Birds of Rush Harbour

Rush is a busy coastal town in North County Dublin. There is access to a small harbour located beside the North Beach. Rush harbour looks out over the Irish sea, There are excellent views of Rockabill Island and the headland and Martello Tower at Loughshinny. As it is tidal, it has a large range of gulls, terns, waders and divers. There is also a good variety of birds in the hedges and fields along the beach. The path from the car park runs along Rush Harbour wall and overlooks the beach at the back of the harbour. You can access the beach at low tide. Waders feed here about one to two hours before high tide. Gulls can be seen on the pier walls. There are steps up to the top of the harbour walls where you can scan the sea and the rocky area at the back of the harbour.
