Bird Watching Skerries

In addition to the harbour, there is a walk along the shoreline with access to a rocky  beach at low tide. You can see terns in the summer time as well as waders and sea ducks in winter, including Eider. In 2021 there have been two rare gulls in Skerries Harbour including a Glaucous Gull and an Iceland Gull. Their normal range is further north in arctic regions.

If you take the road from Skerries to Balbriggan you will come across another rocky beach on the way out of town This is an ideal place to see a wide variety of sea birds. During the summer time there are large numbers of terns present, including Roseate Terns from nearby Rockabill Island.
