Bird Watching Baldoyle

Baldoyle is a small town on the coast in North Dublin between Portmarnock and Sutton. There is walkway along the road from Baldoyle to the railway crossing at Sutton. It is abut a 15 minute walk in total. There are several access points to the beach which can be used at low tide, although it can be quite mucky, so bring boots or waterproof shoes. At low tide there is a very large expanse of sand and mudflats exposed. This attracts gulls, waders and waterfowl in Autumn, Winter and Spring. You can usually see Common Gulls and Curlews here.

When you reach the end of the pathway near Sutton Dart station, you can go down the steps to the beach and walk along the shoreline. Sutton Golf Course will be on your right. This takes you right around the estuary, but make sure you do this at low tide!

You will need to find parking in Baldoyle Village and then walk to the coast road. Sat-Nav co-ordinates are 53.398416, -6.127212 . It is a ten minute drive from Baldoyle to Howth Harbour.
