Birding Rosscarbery Cork

Rosscarbery is a gorgeous village in West Cork and you should make time to have a stroll and a coffee while you are here. When you approach Rosscarbery on the N71 from either direction, the road crosses a large estuary with views on both sides. There is a footpath on one side of the road and a grass verge on the other. This is a good place to search for gulls, waterfowl and divers. It is  popular destination for birding in West Cork.

The Celtic Ross Hotel is located at the western end of this road. Opposite the hotel there is a marshy area that also attracts wildfowl, waders and herons. You can leave the main road and walk along the road that runs alongside the estuary. You can also drive along this road and it leads to a small pier on the coast. The road is very narrow and there is not much opportunity to park.
