Birdwatching Wicklow

A Mediterranean Gull flies just off Bray Head in County Wicklow

Bray, County Wicklow

Bray in County Wicklow is a coastal town with a small harbour, a long stoney beach and a headland that overlooks the town. There is a managed walk along the headland that gives you amazing views out over the Irish Sea. The harbour is home to a group of Mute Swans as well ad large numbers of gulls that rest on the beach at the back of the harbour. You can park close to the harbour and then walk along the coast road to the start of the cliff walk. It will take you 15 to 20 minutes. There is alternative parking at the start of the walk.

The walk has a steep incline at the beginning but it levels out and it takes you all the way to Greystones, a distance of 7 Kilometres. However, it is possible to get the train back to Bray from Greystones which makes it a little easier! Along the way there are superb views of the coastline and the wildlife that inhabits the coast. It is a great walk if you like bird watching! The images in the gallery below were all taken at the harbour or along the cliff walk.
