Bird Watching Glengarriff

Glengarriff is a small and colourful village in West Cork. The climate in this part of Cork is mild because of the influence of the Gulf Stream which flows off the coast. There is a small island in the bay which has famous formal gardens that were laid out over 80 years ago. You can take a ferry service to the island which takes about 10 minutes. The ferry will pass a seal colony on the way. Click on the link to find out more about Garnish Island.

The harbour is best seen at low tide when the mudflats are exposed. You can park on the road leading down to the pier. This is an excellent site to go Birding in West Cork.
