Bird Watching Louth

Annagassan

Annagassan is a small village in County Louth in Ireland. It is located about 15 Kilometres south of Dundalk. There is a small port at the edge of the village. The River Dee and the River Glyde meet just outside the village and enter the Irish Sea at Annagassan.

The port area is tidal and at low tide it attracts waders and wildfowl as well as Gulls, Little Egrets and Grey Herons. You can walk along the harbour wall for a short distance and you can access the beach. There is an area of grassland at the back of the beach that attracts finches and chats.

Annagassan is less than three kilometres from Salterstown Pier, another excellent birding site in County Louth.
