Phoenix Park Dublin

The Phoenix Park in Dublin is the largest enclosed park in Europe. There are several walks throughout the park where you can go bird watching. The Furry Glen is a good area as it is a mix of parkland and woodland with a large pond. There is a carpark at the following Sat Nav co-ordinates: 53.355473, -6.348675 . Cross the road from the carpark and you will see steps down to the Glen Pond. Follow the trails around the Glen.

Close to here is another large pond surrounded by woodlands that is worth a visit. Sat Nav co-ordinates are: 53.365373, -6.343282 . Watch out for the herd of Fallow Deer that are resident in the Phoenix Park. They can usually be seen in the large parkland area in frond of the Furry Glen car park. Grey Squirrels are abundant throughout the park!

Dublin Zoo operates from the park and it is always worth a visit to check out what birds might be there on any given day!

The 12th Lock on the Royal Canal is just a 15 minute drive from the Furry Glen!
